Matthew 10:40-42
40 “Anyone who welcomes you welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. 41 Whoever welcomes a prophet as a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and whoever welcomes a righteous person as a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward. 42 And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward.”
Question:
ReplyDeleteCan a non-believer enter heaven by showing kindness to a believer?

ReplyDeleteMy 2 cents:
ReplyDeleteI've been having difficulties finding articles addressing this question. I think it comes down to this - anyone who responds in love to Jesus (or His presence in His people) enters into His kingdom. We have a tendency to think that people enter His kingdom by saying the "ABC" prayer. I don't think so. I think it is anyone who is attracted to the true Jesus.
In I John, John discusses love and how that is how we know if we are in Christ. If someone responds to Christ in love, I think Jesus will somehow make sure that they "make" it.
All of this is my speculation. It's possible that "their reward" is not salvation but some reward here on earth. But I don't see how that could be, or how it would be much of a reward.
